One Version of True Love

Some of you know most days I use a 12 Step devo, quite Bible-based, written and compiled by a pastor. This was this morning’s and how simple yet profound it is!

For most of my life Book of James LIVE IT, Practice what you preach has rung in my own ears.

The often disconnected talk about Jesus’ love in the light of Christian selfishness, lack of service, excuses about why we don’t have any practical responsibility to “love the unlovely” creates a sharp contrast. That contrast is a train-wreck, a stark and at times blatant, obvious hypocrisy in that while we say we believe in and verbalize a message of faith, hope and love, we demand that others DESERVE it or we take our marbles (or more accurately refuse to share them) and go elsewhere.

Eyes on Jesus and OTHERS BESIDES OURSELVES and we then “learn to love”. It’s a active thing. It’s not an excuse, defense or self-righteous because true love serves and gives. The focus is outward not inward. It’s about them not me, not us. No, I’m not talking about the other person or people… I’m talking about you and me bro. and sis.

Let us move beyond spiritual kindergarten. The world is in deep need of people who reflect God’s love, not merely information about Him from folks who refuse to “by love SERVE one another”.

God help me, help us all- to help our neighbor in Your love.

As always, thanks for stopping by! -Glenn
