Sweet time, rockin’ smoked ribs, really cool people in Maple Grove, MN RibFest! For the 2nd year in a row I was so encouraged by old as well as new friends, big thanks to all who came out. Kudos to Tom Cameron, longtime dear friend, pastor, longtime producer for Rez Band, GKB and my solo records and one time the director of Grrr Records -not to mention blues harp player. I got him up for Sweet Home Chicago and one of my tunes last Sat. night, really fun!
I’ve been doing a lot of shuttling Wendi to and from Dr. and phys. therapy appointments re. her knee replacement, and she’s doing super well but sometimes at night still deals with a fair bit of pain. Little by little, getting better. Thanks for prayers!
After getting home from Minnesota yesterday and her appointment today we did a quick picnic at our Lake Michigan lakefront along a section called “The Magic Hedge” which is a nice bit of woods, native grasses and generally a bird sanctuary right on the lake. Bright sun, blue skies, just a bit of a cool breeze… really nice. After dinner we took a slow walk together. Fun date 🙂 And to bed early tonight… all good!
Next up for me are two gigs, (see my recent Solo Shows in May post for details) one on Mother’s Day Sunday in Channahon, IL (biker’s blessing, bbq and blues) and the next day Joliet Treatment Center which is an Illinois residential treatment facility for inmates with serious mental illnesses.
More and more prison systems in the U.S. are recognizing the need for serving residents with mental illness in ways other than common prison methods -and for that matter, housing inmates in situations where hopefully they are truly helped rather than more easily preyed upon. I’m thankful to be able to bring music and message to these men!
The flowers are blooming and Spring springing, I continue to do studio work on the new project as I’m able and will update on that as I have more to say down the road.
As always, thanks for stopping by! -Glenn
