Fifth On Fourth

FIFTH ON FOURTH
Sometimes it’s do or die
Sometimes my neighbor’s eye
Sometimes it makes one cry
A patriot or lie?
Sometimes priorities
Sometimes on my knees
The love and ethics please
My country, sound/diseased
This Independence Day
This mixed bag of clay
Sublime, disgusting- both
Reality my toast
Our history, night AND day
Compassion AND decay
Through both we ought to sift
Some Fourths we best take the Fifth
