Y'all may have heard this before, but this came in my Facebook inbox this morning via Jeremy, my dear friend who works at our CCO Shelter. The Gospel comment of the day (life ministry?) for me:
"A church that doesn't provoke any crisis, a gospel that doesn't unsettle, a word of God that doesn't get under any one's skin, a word of God that doesn't touch the real sin of the society in which it is being proclaimed — what gospel is that?"?? – Archbishop Oscar Romero
Certainly in part, even at core- the Good News of Jesus confronts/releases from sin!?
Love isn't rude, but every time it shows up the darkness takes a hit. It isn't mean but when it appears hard-nosed folks are called out in their own conscience. It doesn't "lord it over" but the Lordship of Christ isn't extracted and removed from it. God's love is anything but benign! It is never passive.
This is in part, why the "good" can at times seem quite "bad" to those resisting Him and it.
We MUST share in love -and love with our lives, not only words. But let's face the fact that the Gospel of Jesus sounds like a coffin nail being hammered in for those who continually seek their own kingdom over and against His.
Thanks for stopping by, -Glenn
